Susan Boyle made a decision to join singing lessons in her country Scotland, and she was performing in churches and bars across the UK. Even though she auditioned for mgany record labels, Boyle was still an unpopular name most of the time. Boyle had viewed as auditioning for the reality tv show series “The X Factor” in Great Britan, but she was feeling that she would be judged on her physical appearance instead of her voice. In 2009, though, Boyle found another reality series (“Britain’s Got Talent”) that captivated audiences, music and singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserables” that gained millions of views on the internet and on live television.
When Boyle made her debut on “Britain’s Got Talent”, she had been carrying some extra weight, but was not yet considered obese. The sudden fame would get to Boyle, as life on the road and in the spotlight had an effect on Boyle’s eating habits. Boyle would end up putting on more than 30 pounds as she admits that she had been eating sweets that would also have an effect on her health.
In 2014, Boyle’s received a health scare when she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Doctors warned Boyle that she needed to lose the extra weight that she had put on, or else diabetes might claim her life. Boyle admitted that it was eating all of the extra sugar that caused her to put on weight, saying “I needed to stop eating sweeties and cakes. It’s the bane of my life. ”
Boyle was able to cut most of the sugar out of her diet, slowly losing the weight to get her health back. Boyle would end up losing a total of 30 pounds, which she put on proud display in November 2016, also saying that it brought her some male attention (even if it might make her cat jealous). Boyle said that she met a new man, though “It’s nothing serious at the moment. I will send him a picture of my weight loss – if he’s a good boy! ”
Boyle focused mainly on the food aspect of her diet, only adding some walking to her daily routine to help shed the pounds and get her blood moving. In an interview, Boyle didn’t dive too deep into her weight loss, but said she lost pounds “Because I’ve been doing a lot of walking, a lot of exercise, and I haven’t been eating a lot of bad foods anymore. ” As for her diet, Boyle says “I eat a lot of fruit now. ”
Diabetes and struggling with her weight aren’t the only health problems that Boyle has unfortunately had in recent years. While going through her weight loss regimen, Boyle’s diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome from 2012 has become worse in the past year. Boyle said that her illness has made performing on stage incredibly difficult, which is why she hasn’t been able to perform in 2016 at all.
Thankfully, Boyle was still able to perform in the studio, releasing an album in 2016 called “A Wonderful World”. Boyle said that stepping on stage is hard these days because “When you sing, you put on a persona. I hide behind that person on stage. You can feel like death, but you have to put it on. The audience wants to see someone smiley. ”
Hopefully Boyle will be able to overcome her illnesses and perform once again on the stage. It’s been a tough time in her personal life over the past couple of years, which makes her weight loss even more impressive. Boyle’s most recent album released on November 25, 2016, and is already expected to be a big seller whether she appears on stage or not.
