Mama June Finally Debuts 300lb Weight Loss

Simply name this lady “Mama June! ” Like Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton on the Simple Life, there are many reality shows that are nothing more than guilty pleasures, one of which is TLC’s Here Comes Honey Boo Boo featuring Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, “Mama” June Shannon and the rest of the gang. The family matriarch and the mastermind behind Honey Boo Boo’s “Go Go Juice, ” Mama June was usually criticized on her parenting style with the show’s debut in 2012 to its cancellation encircled in scandal in 2014.

Do not ever actually giving much considered to her extra pounds, the Georgia native knew she had an issue with foods but the reality didn’t injured until one episode of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo titled “Mama Goes to the Scale” mentioned that she had gotten up to 365 pounds. Doing her top to make a change (although a slow one), Shannon has slimmed down noticeably in the last several years and also celebrated her first 100-pound losing weight target in 2013. So what’s her “little” secret?

Initially chalking up the losing weight to just being aware of what she eats, Shannon told TMZ early on, “I haven’t done any surgeries. No diet pills, never went to the gym, but along with the show, I’ve been more active. They also have me running around and going completely different places…I think it’s paying off. ”

Motivated by her initial success, Shannon was in a special position as a reality television star to get help removing extra weight and asked the show’s manager for help. She was then connected with Hollywood celebrity trainer Natasha Fett who, despite living thousands of miles away from Shannon, became her virtual trainer and set her up with a diet plan, exercise routine and a variety of natural supplements to boost her metabolism.

“Even though she’s 3, 000 miles away, she’s still very supportive through everything, ” Shannon told Melissa Siegel of TMZ. “I’m just walking through the neighborhood three miles a day, and just keep up with that and just keeping up with the kids and just kind of being on the go all the time. I went from like a size 28 to a 16. ”

Fett placed Shannon on a low calorie diet with certainly no processed sugars or refined carbohydrates to really boost her metabolism. Even healthier food sources such as almond butter and peanut butter were completely cut out because they added a lot of excess calories to Shannon’s diet rather quickly. Instead, Shannon replaced her former go-to snacks with hummus dip, celery and carrots. She then added fibrous foods to her diet that were rich in unrefined carbohydrates such as brown rice, beans, sweet potatoes and lentils.

With the weight seemingly falling off, Shannon had no trouble making a few other changes to her diet and has seen even bigger results. Limited to a 1, 500 calorie diet, Shannon eats her largest meal for breakfast and enjoys oatmeal with chocolate protein powder, chia seeds and banana slices. On the side, she has a green juice shake, lean turkey bacon slices and two all-natural weight loss pills that help boost her metabolism and fat burning abilities by an extra 350 calories per day. Ending her day with a light snack for dinner, the diet was going remarkably well for Shannon until doctors feared she had gone too far.

Collapsing at home and hospitalized, Shannon underwent gastric bypass surgery in March 2016 as doctors felt it was a healthier and safer option to assist in Shannon’s ongoing weight loss journey. Now back on her feet and still losing weight, the outspoken Mama June has dropped the “Mama” from her name and is enjoying quite the boost in her confidence and self-esteem thanks to her slimmer figure. Heck, she even starred on the Botched finale in July 2016 where she talked with physicians about removing excess skin. Told that she has to lose another 75 pounds before she’s eligible for the procedure, we have no doubt that Shannon will do exactly that so stay tuned!
